Shared Room Tips
I shared a bedroom (and, in fact a bed) with one of my sisters for a few years growing up and while I can remember a few territorial squabbles, it was mostly a fun, bonding experience. It's also often a necessity in small homes or when the child-to-bedroom ratio requires it. But designing a shared bedroom stumps many parents - do you go for a cohesive share-and-share-alike look or try to give each child their own bit of space to express their personality? While the size of the room may dictate which approach you take, here are some visual tips from shared kids rooms to get you started.
Bunk Beds
"Use the height" is a frequent refrain we hear in reference to small spaces. This is especially useful if you have tall ceilings, and seems like an obvious enough suggestion. What is somewhat surprising in this roundup of bunk beds is how varied they are. These are not just your standard sibling bedroom fare.

Peyton's Room
Name: Peyton (4)
Location: Odenville, AL

When we moved Peyton into her own room, I wanted her new space to feel bright and happy. I wanted her furniture to be fun and girly, but also versatile enough to continue to work in her room as she grows and gets older.

Outdoor Party Decor
Carving out little spaces to play are what childhood memories are made of. This pretty image is from a grown up party — a wedding actually — but it got us thinking: doesn't it look like it would make a sweet little hide-away in the backyard for your next play date or kid party?
