BlueSky bangs Ishq Overseas rights

BlueSky cinemas next overseas release, Ishq overseas release date, 


Nitin and Nithya Menon starrer 'Ishq' movie overseas rights has acquired by BlueSky Cinemas. The youthful romantic musical entertainer is all set to release on February 24th in overseas.

It was directed by Vikram Kumar of '13B' frame and M.Vikram Gowd is produced the film under the banner of Multi Dimension Entertainment. Anup Rubens and Aravind-Shankar is scored music for the film. The songs "Oh Priya Priya" and "Lachamma Di" has turned out as chart-busters.

P.C. Sreeram is handling cinematography and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. BlueSky who is releasing the film in overseas is really excited to be part of this film and release in entire overseas market.

Vikram's next film 'Thaandavam' which is directed by A.L Vijay will see a youthful and robust looking Vikram in the film.

The director of the film A.L Vijay says that "You will see a spirited, youthful and robust looking Chiyaan in 'Thaandavam' Vikram shed a few kilos within weeks when I told him I needed that lean and youthful look."

Recently 'Thaandavam' team has shot few important scenes and a song in New Delhi. The romantic melody song "Oru Paadhi Kanavu  Neeyadi" which is penned by Na.Muthukumar was shot in the backdrop of Taj Mahal. The melody number will have Vikram and Anushka.

The movie team is now waiting to start the second schedule in Chennai after the strike of FEFSI to get over. After completing the Chennai schedule the entire team will fly to US for the next schedule where a major part of the story will take place.

Horror films, unlike science fiction are not supposed to be confined by logic in their illogicality, and are easier to make. Have a spooky story, get some spooky location, have a ugly looking ghost, many creaky doors, loud eerie noises, wind blowing out candles foreshadowing the malevolent ghost and a character - preferably a dog - who can see the ghost like daylight while the audience can only have glimpses.

Sadly, exactly these cliches that make up the fabric of "The Woman In Black".

A young barrister (Radcliffe), who had lost his wife during childbirth, is asked to go to a remote village to finish the paperwork for the sale of a house. He seems to be unwelcome in the village. And before he realizes there's a creepy thing living in the house he is trying to sell, children start dying and he is blamed for this.

If you are the type of person who gets scared by the slightest noises, this is your film. It is so laden with every cliches of horror movie that you are in safe territory. But it is exactly the reason why the discerning viewer will dislike the film.

For the greatest strength of a horror film is its ability to surprise you, even if it is by a new twist to the same old trick. But if the scare-tricks have been used in the same manner over and over again previously, there isn't much left to either surprise you, and since you know where the scare is coming from, to really scare you.

What you thus have is a run-of-the mill film which gets its scene and sound correct, but messes up everything else.

Thus the main problem of the film is that it has problems too many. It's more like an ensemble of scenes that are meant to scare you and which come one after the other, at one point close to 15 minutes pass without a word being uttered on screen. The story is like the ghost in the film, somewhere there but not visible and which irritates more than it excites.

And everyone knows the reason why this film will attract global attention. Yet, Daniel Radcliffe fresh from playing a teenager in Harry Porter, tries unsuccessfully to both look like a 30 something man and one who is scared of the ghost. Obviously, now that he is all grown up and has to make his own choices, he needs to be careful about what he chooses to do.

Based on a book of the same name by Susan Hill, the story has been successfully adapted into almost every other format possible - stage play, radio and television. The film version could definitely have gone where others before have not.

Thus in the annals of scary cinema if you were to ask, "horror horror in the hall (of fame), who's the scariest of them all," be assured that even 'The Men In Black' will score over this lone woman.
Verdict: Cliched, obvious and loud

Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' which is directed by Shakun Batra had a decent opening week at the box office.

The film did extraordinary business in urban centres, while the single screens are remained dull. 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' collections are very good in cities like Mumbai, Delhi/UP, Punjab and Mysore. The film seen drop in collections after Valentine's Day outside Mumbai circuits.

'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' opening week break up:-

Friday – Rs. 5.25 crore, Saturday – Rs. 7.50 crore, Sunday – Rs. 8.50 crore, Monday – Rs. 2.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.10 crore and Thursday – Rs. 1.90 crore.

'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' has approximately collected Rs. 32.75 crore nett in 7 days at the Indian box office.  

OKOK audio launch postponed

Udhyanidhi Stalin's debutant flick 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' (OKOK) audio release is postponed. The film audio is slated launch on February 26th.

The producer and actor Udhyanidhi that the 'OKOK' audio launch function was postponed due to some unavoidable reasons, Udhyanidhi tweets about that "'OKOK' audio launch is not on feb 26th! SORRY.. Some technical problems: (wat 2 do? That is the life :)"

'OKOK' was directed by M.Rajesh of 'SMS' and 'BEB' frame. Harris Jayarj is scoring music for the film. Balasubramaniem is handling cinematography and it was produced by Udhyanidhi Stalin under his Red Giant Movies banner.
