Jennifer Hudson pays tribute to Whitney Houston

The theme for the Grammy Awards was completely changed on Sunday following the death of Whitney Houston last Saturday. The producers had no option than to acknowledge the contribution of the late singer.

Houston's remake of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," which was used as the soundtrack of the hit movie The Bodyguard, was one of the biggest hits of the singer. At the Grammys last Sunday, Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to the 48-year-old singer when she gave a rendition of the song.

Houston's version of the song is always a challenge to any singer because of the extraordinary power behind the performance. Hudson accepted an incredible challenge when she decided to perform the track with only a piano.

Hudson was among the many stars who saw Houston as a mentor. During the Grammys in 2009, Hudson was presented with the Best R&B Album honor by Houston. A year later, Hudson paid tribute to Houston at the BET Honors show. Houston was praised during the show for her outstanding contribution as a black performer over a period of 25 years.

Houston was found dead last Saturday. Her death has sent shock waves throughout the entertainment world. Several people have paid their tribute to her.

Vidya has taken over as ‘female hero’, says Shekhar

 Vidya Balan, who has become a name to reckon with following some power-packed female-oriented films, has found another admirer in music composer Shekhar Ravjiani who describes her as a "female hero".

"If we are taking about female population, now we know that we have a female hero here with us who has taken over. I think with all the Khans and the Kapoors, we have Vidya Balan now," Shekhar, of the Vishal-Shekhar duo, said here at the music launch of their latest film "Kahaani."

After being down and out for a while, Vidya resurfaced and showed her Versatility with "Ishqiya", "Paa", "No One Killed Jessica" and her masterstroke came in the form of "The Dirty Picture". The film was not only a commercial success, it also received all-round acclaim.

Right now Vidya is on a winning sprees with most popular best actress awards falling in her kitty.

The duo had composed the music for "The Dirty Picture" and Shekhar says they have tried to match the audiences' expectations with "Kahaani", which is coming out March 9, as well.

" 'Kahaani' is really very special for us. Whenever people talk about this combination (me and Vishal), they always expect something really mad, crazy and beautiful and this has happened again with 'Kahaani'," said Shekhar.

They are also busy composing for "Arjun - The Warrior Prince", "Student of the Year" and "Shanghai."
