Emma Roberts was born on February 10, 1991 in Rhinebeck, New York to (actor) Eric Roberts and Kelly Cunningham (never married). Because her parents separated when she was very young, she split her time living with her mother and her father with step-mother Eliza (Garret) [Eliza Simons by a previous marriage]. She has a stepbrother (Keaton Simons, a musician and her mentor) and a stepsister (Morgan Simons), as well as a half-sister named Grace Nickels (born in March 2004 to mom Kelly and the father is Kelly Nickels, former bassist of the LA Guns). She is the niece of actresses Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman, etc.) and Lisa Roberts Gillan (Something to Talk About).
Her first big professional role came in the movie Blow in 2001 as the young Kristina Jung, playing opposite Johnny Depp. Even at age ten, she showed an aptitude for the screen.
She has also appeared in other movies, including: BigLove (2001); Grand Champion (2002); and Spymate (2003).
She attended the Archer Middle School, and now attends High School in Brentwood, California when not working.
Her big break came in 2004, when she appeared in the leading role of Nickelodeons TV show, Unfabulous. She is busy working on the second season, which begins on September 10, 2005. She has been nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Breakout Performance - Female for the 2005 awards ceremony on Aug. 16th (and the show has been nominated for breakout show), the Young Artists Award for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Leading Young Actress and the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Performers in a TV Series (shared with fellow cast members Jordan Calloway, Bianca Collins, Dustin Ingram, Carter Jenkins. Besides working on her role as the High School girl Addie on Unfabulous, she is also beginning to work on the movie Aquamarine with teen pop singer JoJo about two girls that find a mermaid. [Note: She is also good friends with fellow Nickelodeon teen leading lady Jamie Lynn Spears). She has two more motion pictures in her future, Camp Couture (produced by her mother Kelly Cunningham) where instead of spending a summer at an expensive summer camp, she goes to a run of the mill camp and Bras and Broomsticks in which a girl inherits her mother's magical powers. Both movies are slated to be released in 2006.
She continues to pursue a career in music as well. Her song "If I Had It My Way" appears on the Ice Princess soundtrack (2005). A CD soundtrack for the show Unfabulous entitled Unfabulous and More: Emma Roberts, is going to be released on September 27, 2005 featuring songs sung by Emma Roberts.

I was so young, I didn't understand that I was working with one of the best actors, ever, until later [on working with Johnny Depp in Blow (2001)].
My most prized possession, though, is an autographed picture of Rupert Grint, who plays "Ron Weasley" in the "Harry Potter" films.
I think there are a lot of people out there who say the really low blow of "She's just in the business because of her family". I do it because I love to do it. There have been a lot of parts I've been up for that I haven't gotten. I don't get everything handed to me like some people think. I mean, people say, "Oh, do you feel like you're living in Julia's shadow?" I don't at all, because I'm not trying to be her. I'm just being myself and doing what I want to do. I'm having a lot of fun, and I feel like I am making a name for myself, as well -- on being treated differently for being related to Julia Roberts.
I've Netflixed all of the Gwyneth Paltrow movies. I'm a huge fan of hers. She's kind of my idol at the moment. I really like Kirsten Dunst. She did a lot of cool, fun teen movies, and she's also done some serious roles. I like her style, and I think she seems pretty interesting -- on actors that inspire her.
